Loquat leaves are the leaves of Eriobotrya japonica Thunb. The plant mainly grows in Sichuan, Gansu, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shanxi, etc. It has functions of treating lung heat phlegm cough, Yin deficiency cough, hemoptysis, epistasis, blood vomiting, stomach heat retch, pregnancy obstruction, children vomiting milk, thirst and lung wind-face sores. The leaves of Eriobotrya japonica also contain erioboside, amygdalin and so on. Amygdalin for 20 hydroxylonitrile glycoside, in the body of a variety of microorganisms produced under the role of enzymes, can decompose the release of trace hydrocyanic acid. It has effects on sedative respiratory center, relieving cough and asthma.
