From farm to table-gorgon fruit cake
Farmers in JianYang City, southeast China's Sichuan province were harvesting gorgon fruit on Apr 10, 2022. With the natural advantage of plentiful water, the local government has developed the gorgon fruit industry through an approach it calls "Family farm plus Base" that promotes rural revitalization and increases farmer incomes.
The ingredients of the dessert include fresh gorgon fruit, sweet rice flour, and sugar. The gorgon fruit is boiled, dried in the sun and levigated. The resulting product is mixed with sweet rice flour, sugar and water. This dough is kneaded, compressed into rectangular shapes, and steamed.
The gorgon cake is said to tonify spleen and kidney.
